My first foray into a "professional" kitchen came at the young age of 17, when I was promoted from waiter to "cook" at the local Hungry Horse pub. Having been terrorised by an unruly brigade of chefs for the last four months, I spent my evenings after school helping on the frier station for fun. There begun a love affair with restaurants, kitchens and cooking, that has seen me work alongside some of the greatest names in the industry, spend a summer as a hotel maid and hospitalise myself on more than one occasion.
PHOTOGRAPHY
I first became aware of photography through my father as he grappled with the intricacies of various different photography worlds; wildlife, portrait and cars to name a few. Fascinated I was by the concept that you could freeze frame a moment in time, and then relive it every time you looked at the photo. Despite many failures and regularly receiving those little warning stickers on blurry photos, I always took a camera with me and attempted the creation of stunning masterpieces. Fast forward over 25 years and this passion and drive remains.
